Fraunhofer ITWM

Fraunhofer-Institut für Techno- und Wirtschaftsmathematik (ITWM) in Kaiserslautern, Germany belongs to Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, which is a society of applied research. The main aim of Fraunhofer ITWM is to utilize applied mathematics for the industry and economy. Innovative simulation technologies are important in this field. Research at Fraunhofer led to the development of the IPS product portfolio.

The specific competence of Fraunhofer ITWM is the mathematical approach to practical problems. Mathematical methods are used for creating digital models of reality and for processing large amounts of data or complex structures in an appropriate way. Optimal solutions for technical problems can be achieved by means of simulation.

Fraunhofer-Chalmers

Fraunhofer-Chalmers Research Centre for Industrial Mathematics (FCC) in Gothenburg, Sweden, has been founded by Chalmers and the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft to undertake and to enhance mathematical research to the benefits of industry, commerce and public institutions.

The conception of mathematics as a key technology for industrial innovation is essential, since it is the key technology to the virtual world – no simulation without mathematics. FCC develops simulation methods for prediction, control, optimization, quality assurance and risk assessment.

The IPS software was developed at FCC in cooperation with Fraunhofer ITWM. fleXstructures GmbH and FCC work closely together in research projects.

IPS AB

IPS AB was founded in 2012 as a spin-off company of Fraunhofer-Chalmers Centre to handle marketing, sales and support of the IPS software. In 2014 the subsidiary company IPS IBOFlow AB was founded, which is entrusted with the products for the simulation of surface treatment processes, like IPS Virtual Paint. Both companies are located in Gothenburg, Sweden. They are now responsible for support, marketing and sales of IPS products in Scandinavia.
